What do you need gear carabiners for? When you're in the mountains, on the rocks or on the ice, space is at a premium on the harness. Although the gear loops often provide enough space, they are not indestructible. The solution is gear carabiners. They increase the space available on the harness or backpack. They keep hands free and the equipment ready at hand. A gear carabiner is however only designed for additional equipment and must under no circumstances be used for securing people or routes!
