Finding the perfect autumn jacket for nasty weather

Fall Jackets

Every season makes its own demands on us. Solid clothing is a necessity, especially for those who like to spend a lot of time outdoors or enjoy outdoor sports, as it gives the wind and weather no chance!
A jacket for the transitional seasons should be strongly wind resistant and water repellent or even waterproof. As with functional jackets for the summer or winter, jackets for the transitional seasons are also available as men's jackets, or women's jackets with a tailored cut. There are also coats which offer more protection against wet and cold. I can combine my autumn jacket with an insulating layer and then wear it in cold weather in winter.

My autumn jacket can the following

Attractive autumn jackets come in attractive autumn colours like claret, brown or olive green. Of course, it can make sense to buy a jacket in a bright colour, instead of a natural colour, so that you will be more visible in grey weather, especially on the bike.
These jackets are breathable and come with fully adjustable hoods. They also feature two-way zips, so you can have better freedom of movement. A relatively thin windbreaker (e.g. a windstopper jacket) in combination with a long-sleeve shirt can easily double as an autumn jacket. The true autumn jacket comes with a lightweight lining in fleece or synthetic fibre and will in any case feature a thicker fabric.
Available types of jackets include waterproof autumn jackets (hardshells), jackets made from material blends (e.g. G-1000) or special insulation jackets made with synthetic fibre fills (like PrimaLoft or Polartec Alpha). Thin down jackets or windproof fleece jackets are also ideal for wearing in autumn.
A longer cut in the back, well-designed pockets, reflectors and thumb loops are all features which will make your outdoor experience much more enjoyable.
You can get these autumn jackets from Vaude, Mammut, Patagonia and The North Face.
