Hello David, To the best of my knowledge 1200mm is the borderline between what is to be considered water repellent and water proof. With that it mind it goes without saying that this tent is far from suitable for UK weather and the weather extremes that we face more and more often these days. In my opinion this teant is designed for use in a completely different climate zone.
