Maybe 10 years use?
I bought a second one to cater for more than one area map
Good for day hiking and multi-day hiking
Like the fact that I can carry easily in my rucksack or around my neck and under the arm to readily check my GPS if in doubt.
The security of the strap retainer is not obvious. I lost a strap retainer recently and only found out after the map case had hit the ground which wasn't immediately. I had to walk down the mountain to recover the map case and map. I made a knot which was not great and also failed. So I had to put a bigger, uglier knot in the strap (see the photo below). I could not buy a map case plastic retainer nor 3-D print one, so the ugly knot has to remain.
