The Salomon Genesis are trail running shoes designed for the demands of technical mountain running. They provide a firm hold and good protection from debris. With these running shoes you can climb any hill!
Durable upper
The upper is extremely durable and designed for heavy use. The material is also breathable. As a result, your feet will be protected from stones and still be well ventilated.
Midsole with moderate cushioning
Featuring a lightweight energyFoam midsole, the shoes provide medium cushioning and a springy ride. Ideal for maintaining control on technical trails without sacrificing comfort. The sole has a height of 34 mm at the heel and a height of 26 mm at the forefoot. As a result, the Genesis have a drop of 8 mm.
Grippy outsole
Built for alpine trails, the outsole is made of abrasion-resistant, very grippy All-Terrain Contagrip rubber and has 4.5 mm deep lugs. You will master every ascent and descent.
Supportive fit
The shoes have a standard fit. They are neither too wide nor too narrow. The insole has also been designed to provide you with a stable hold in the shoe.

Normally buy the Speedcross.
Bought the Genesis GtX as a change and as it generally received excellent reviews.
However, I am not impressed with its grip on muddy steep(ish) wet forested terrain. The Speedcross outshine them easily. I have them a few opportunities to prove their worth....not just a run with the shoes straight from the box. On each occasion I had minor foot slips, did not feel secure or confident and had to slow (I was not exactly pinning it down btw) down. Something I had not experienced with the Speedcross. They felt, at times, like hardened plastic on the sole rather than a grippy base for the foot.
I will keep them anyway, maybe not use them as much, but I am looking for a Speedcross bargain now. I have a steep fast mountain ascent coming up soon. Maybe one more try out.
