Product description
Athletic softshell jacket with a good cut
The R1 Techface Hoody from Patagonia is perfectly suitable for mountain sports. This athletic softshell jacket impresses with its good cut and numerous useful details. The material of this jacket is windproof and water-repellent, meaning that light or occasional rain showers are no problem. In addition, the material is highly breathable, ensuring that moisture that builds up is effectively wicked away to the outside.
Close-fitting hood and practical pockets
Thanks to its athletic, almost straight cut and articulated sleeves, the R1 Techface Hoody fits well and does not restrict your freedom of movement. The hood on this model is close-fitting and, in combination with the raised collar, offers you additional protection from the elements if needed. The jacket also features three pockets, which are positioned so that you can reach them even when wearing a climbing harness.
The highlights at a glance:
- Athletic cut fits well
- Material is water-repellent and breathable
- Three zipped pockets

To be clear, even though it looks like a jacket, this is not a jacket but fleece. You can wear it as a last layer when it is slightly cold or under a jacket when it really gets cold. Like previously stated, it is a lightweight, stretchy, durable, even warm enough versatile piece that can be used in variety of sports—hiking, running, climbing, biking, skiing, etc.
I am 195 cm and 110 kg and went with XXL since previous R1 models in XL were to tight for me.
The cut of the jacket is bad; its just way to long and also way to wide on the torso; its as if people who wear XXL have to have a large abdomen. Its not designed for people with athletic build but instead has a wide and loose fit, which I personally do not prefer.
