Boasting a traditional, high-laced walking boot design, excellent cushioning and a bellows tongue to prevent dirt and pebbles entering the shoe, this shoe is the perfect example of the quality we've come to expect from Merrell. For stability and shock-absorbing protection, the boot is equipped with Merrell's Air Cushion. Add to this the EVA midsole and you got quite the stable shoe! Plus, the Moab comes complete with the Vibram TC5 sole, which has excellent tread to provide you with the traction you need, even in wet conditions.The Merrell Moab 2 Mid GTX has everything a good walking boot should - Yes, toe protection as well!

Hello Carolynne, Other than the hole in the top of the boot where you put your foot in :) Yes ,the boot is water proof and is fitted with a Gore-tex waterproof membrane.
