Simple and intuitive handling - the Mad Rock Lifeguard! This belay device is opened and closed very similarly to the GriGri. However, in contrast with the GriGri is doesn't have an automatic blocking function. During the fall arrest of a climber, there will be an increase in friction, which will take the strain off of your brake hand and provide extra security. This will only work, though, if your brake hand is in the correct position. So, handling is more comfortable and saves energy. Plus, you have the option of giving slack quickly when belaying a leader. The Lifeguard works similarly to the GriGri in that it has an easy-to-use handle that allows a smooth release of the rope. So, if you're looking for a belay device for sport and indoor climbing, have a closer look at the Mad Rock Lifeguard!

I’m using this device for many years and have two of them first one I bought around 12 years ago and it’s less sensitive than you paying out the rope. The second one is about three years old and it looks itself much easier. I like the old one more. on all device leather retraction spring have broke but apart from that it functions perfectly well. This device missing V friction groove on top of the hinge like on EDELRID PINCH.
TOTAL: LESS SENSITIVE PLAS V GROOVE FRICTION ZONE WOULD MAKE IT EVEN BETTER DEVICE!!!
