There are two options to access the main compartment – from the top and by opening the front panel completely. It makes it easy to load with packing cubes and also quickly grab something like a jacket from the top.
The backpack has a separate utility compartment on top. It's large enough to fit a kindle paperwhite e-reader and some smaller items.
Inside the main compartment has a padded laptop sleeve. It's pretty easy to take out the laptop in the airport without disrupting anything inside the bag.
The side pocket easily fits a 700ml water bottle. I just wish it has another side pocket on the other side, but it's reserved for a side handle that I don't use that much.
I had no problem taking it on several European airlines as a carry on (not a personal item, mind you).
Overall I love the color, aesthetics and utility as a travel backpack. Also you can really load it up with groceries.
