04.08.2020The new pattern cut doesn't work for me.
I purchased two pairs of the original Rugged 2 Pant a long time ago and they're still going strong today. I thought i'd treat myself to some new one's, as they were on sale, so I duly ordered two pairs in black. On arrival, I tried them on and was immediately disappointed. The original pant was a really great fit for taller people who are fit and not fat. They had the long leg, a slightly longer crotch to waistband measurement and fit snugly around your waist. The updated Pant still has the long leg, but the waistband to crotch feels less roomy, with the band appearing to sit lower on your hips and not around your waist. That would've been ok to live with if not for the abysmal change to the waistband measurement/cut. What is it with clothing designers who seem to think that, the taller a person gets, the fatter they also become? These Pants are now really loose around my waist and the side adjusters, also changed from the original, only serve to bunch up the material into an uncomfortable lump and they're still too loose, so you need a belt, which you can't wear due to the clump of fabric digging into you at each side of your waist, caused by the inferior waistband adjusters. Why not try a smaller size? I hear you ask. Well, according to designers, not only do you get fat around the waist the taller you get, you also suffer from a skinny arse and noodles for legs. So, the next size down will fit you around the waist, but you'll rip the seam of your Pant when you try to bend over as they'll be far too tight around your butt and your thighs. It's a real shame, as these trousers were awesome before they changed them.

Agreed
I also bought a pair a few years ago and bought the exact size and style again. I presumed that although a few design details had changed that the underlying shape and cut would remain constant. Unfortunately the fit around my hips is very different and comparing it with the old pair, which I still have, they feel and look very different.
Hard to understand why Haglof seem to have redefined what Medium Regular length is.

Used for mountaineering in Alps. Super durable, good cut and look nice. Leg vents are useful, but the pants are still too warm to wear during hot summer approach. Temps below 20 C is where they are brilliant.
