Product description
Ventilated and spacious walking backpack
The Futura Pro 40 walking backpack from Deuter features padded and ventilated shoulder and hip straps to offer outstanding carrying comfort on strenuous hikes. When confronted with difficult and sweaty climbs, any resulting moisture simply evaporates, while you benefit from permanent air flow on your back. On the inside, you can subdivide the storage space using a fold-out partition.
Adjustable back length
Thanks to an ingenious carrying system, the back length can be adjusted in stages. This easy-to-operate mechanism provides noticeable click feedback to ensure safety when it engages, while its central position ensures a straight alignment. Walking poles can be attached to the front of the backpack and are therefore immediately accessible while on the move. Meanwhile, a large stretchy outer pocket with additional side access makes it easy to grab items such as your water bottle without having to take off the backpack. In addition, two hip fin pockets, two lid compartments, a separate bottom compartment and a large stretch compartment at the front ensure optimum organisation.
The advantages at a glance:
- Lightweight and spacious walking backpack
- Breathable and padded straps
- Adjustable back system
- Various pockets and compartments for optimum organisation on the move

I have used this backpack for several years now, from a single-day trek to several days of Kilimanjaro and Elbrus ascents. It delivered. For me, the most important thing is the vent system, and this model has it. Enough pockets, items accessible from all sides. Well designed and durable. It is rather pricey for a backpack, but that is what you pay for the quality.

Expedition Trekking Mountaineering
On trekking / hiking routes whether they are one day with some more gear to carry or as multi-day backpack, I find this 40L backpack sweetspot. Enough compartments, yet still not too large or heavy. Nice Deuter ventilation system, good fit on my shoulders.
I have used it on several ocasions, and each time was satisfied with it.
