There's no question that size 176 will likely be slightly too big. the size down will be too small and the only way to know for sure if the fit will be right is to try on.
Unfoetunately, we do not have the possibility or capacity at the moment to take those measurements for you. Sorry.
Best to take chance so he can try on at home and return the coat for a refund if all is not well.
