Tried sizes 40 and 40 2/3. In regular shoes I usually wear size 40, while my Lowa Renegade GTX boots are size 41.5, and those were extremely comfortable right from the start.
Size 40 was too small: while walking, I could feel my toes hitting the front of the boot from the inside. Size 40 2/3, on the other hand, was too large. Tightening the laces did not help.
One of the lace attachment points also pressed very uncomfortably into my foot on the inside, roughly around the middle of the foot. Overall, the boots felt very stiff and bulky on my feet, especially compared with the Lowa Renegade GTX. I tried the Lowas on immediately after the Salomons, and it felt like walking on clouds (but those are not that durable unfortunately)
I have also tried the Salomon Quest 4 before, and I remember those feeling more comfortable, although I did not buy them either because I was similarly between two sizes.
Unfortunately, I have to return these.
