Resolution (n.): 1. the quality of being determined or resolute 2. the action of solving a problem or contentious matter. Its name alone tells you almost all there is to know about the Resolution Jacket. Its manufacturer, Rab, offers ambitious alpine climbers an uncompromisingly sophisticated product for expeditions and mountaineering. The core of this down jacket is, of course, its insulating layer of European goose down - 800 cuin fill power, certified according to the Responsible Down Standard. Its PFC-free DWR treatment gives it water-repellent properties. But these details are not the only mark of quality - you can really count on it to keep you warm even under icy conditions. The precious lining is protected by the Pertex Shield outer material. Here, too, the name tells you everything you need to know: Pertex Shield is a highly breathable, windproof and waterproof layer of high-tech PU-laminated fabric. Naturally, all the seams are taped. Where other down jacket have reached their limits, the Resolution jacket ups the ante: Its down-filled, helmet-compatible hood, integrated drawstring hem and adjustable sleeve cuffs are just the beginning. For your money, you are a getting high-performance water repellent AquaGuard zips with a storm flap and an insulating cover flap - thermal bridges haven't got a chance. Two padded front pockets and a large breast pocket offers space for your compass, GPS and other equipment. Is your next tour taking you to Greenland, Alaska, or the Karakoram? This is my fourth RAB and is excellent. I have owned (and still own ) jackets from Columbia, Berghaus, Montane, Mountain equipment etc so I'm not writing this as a devout RAB user.
Foe standing at rugby matches with a biting wind and usually chucking down with rain this coat has been amazing. Totally waterproof, totally wind proof and exceptionally warm. Fit and finish and on par as well.
It's not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Very happy buyer.
