Product description

The Backyard-Y by Pyua is a reliable jacket that can stand up to even the most extreme of demands. The hard shell jacket simply leaves nothing else to be desired. It is sustainable, made from recycled materials and was awarded the ISPO ECO Responsibility Award for Outstanding Innovation. Its three layer outer material corresponds to the multilayer principle and is extremely wind and waterproof. Water won't even stand a chance against the water repellent zips. The Backyard-Y's ventilation system and breathable material both work to ensure an ideal temperature regulation. The integrated jacket-trouser connection system and ankle snow gaiter ensure that no unwanted cold air enters from beneath. The jacket provides the optimum fit thanks to the reinforced shoulders, the adjustable waistband and the individually adjustable hood which can also be tucked away under your helmet. The high collar with laser-cut breathing holes not only provides protection against the elements, but also makes sure you get enough air. The hard shell jacket also features various practical pockets to securely store all your essentials: One lift pass pocket, one inside pocket with audio outlet, one inside pocket with lanyard and various outer pockets. The Backyard-Y by Pyua is assuredly reliable, both on the slopes or for touring in the mountains. It keeps the worst weather at bay and at the same offers a high level of wearing comfort.

I wouldn't

Positives: Looked great

Negatives: Not fit for purpose.

Jacket wetted out almost immediately in rain (on second or third day of use) - not waterproof at all. This was not sweat/condenstation as I was standing still at the time in a queue!

A popper broke through the stitching on the snow skirt after about 8 days use so now the snow skirt doesn't stay in place.

Overall a terrible quality piece of kit for a very high price tag.

Pyua were not interested in sorting this out with me at all.

Bad kit. Bad company.

Pyua backyard jacket

Is this jacket suitable for winter walking/climbing in the uk as well as skiing bearing in mind the very wet conditions?

Hei Gadge,

of course you can use the jacket also for winter walking/climbing. The only thing which could bother you a little bit during this activities is the fixed snow skirt. If you get along with it, there is no problem to use the jacket also during winter walks and climbing
