Mighty crevasses, mixed terrain and imposing summits - welcome to the home of Western Alps Softshell Jacket by Ortovox! The softshell jacket is perfect for mountaineering and ski touring because it is adaptable and one hundred percent reliable. The combination of abrasion-resistant Merino Naturetec Rips inserts and the Naturetec Light material as well as fine Merino wool on the inside makes the jacket abrasive, very breathable and also wind- and water-repellent. So, it’s perfect for those who value protection and adaptability from valley to summit.
What else is special about the softshell jacket? The jacket has a two-way front zip which allows practical and quick temperature regulation. If you have a backpack on, you can open the zip from above as well as from below. The backpack-compatible front pockets also offer space for small items that you want to keep handy and secure. The hem and cuffs can be adjusted in the same way as the hood to achieve a perfect fit. The next summit calls - with the Western Alps Softshell Jacket!

This is a great garment for high-altitude mountaineering. I wore it on my climbs to +5000 m peaks, and it delivered. It has an athletic cut, its durable, warm, and acts as a good windstopper. I wore it on -20C and felt great. I never wore it on rainy days, though. Downside is no underarm zipper for ventilation, which is a must for any mountaineering jacket.
