Perfect for high Alpine terrain: the Westalpen 3L Light Jacket by Ortovox! The hardshell jacket is ideal for mountaineering and other activities where top performance is required. The Dermizax 3-layer design protects against extreme weather conditions, while the technical design is entirely focused on the needs of alpinists in the high mountains. The Westalpen Light Jacket is completely waterproof and windproof without compromising on breathability and freedom of movement.
In addition to weatherproofing, the waterproof jacket also has other practical features. Starting with the adjustable hood, which also protects the head from wind and weather. In addition, there are two large front pockets with zips, in which you can safely store small items for travelling. In addition, the adjustable cuffs as well as the adjustable hem provide a high level of comfort and perfect fit, so that no moisture can penetrate into the inside of the jacket. Thanks to the low pack size, the waterproof jacket fits into nearly every rucksack. Ortovox has come up with something really great with the Western Alps 3L Light Jacket!

The title says it all, These are the best water proofs I have owned along with the Westaplen trousers. They are so light weight to the fact you don't realise you are wearing them and when in a heavy down pour you wander if you will be dry but credit to Ortovox you have no need to worry. Yes they are expensive but you are paying for a top quality product along with all their other clothing and equipment.

Jacket is nice and well finished but the weight of the M size is 320g and not 280 as advertised.
Also this jacket is made in Vietnam so that was a bit of a let down as Ortovox normally make their higher end items Europe - I recently changed all my skiing stuff to ortovox (Guardian range) due to it being made in Europe - unfortunately seems ultra light/light market is mostly produced in Asia - this one might have to go back :-(
Recommend only if you can live with extra weight and production country!
