My wife loves these boots. They fit her like slippers while providing the support of a much heavier boot. It took her 3 attempts to find her size as Mammut sizing seems different to the other brands she wears (Meindl and Merrell). Yes it seems she only wears hiking shoes that begin with the letter "M". The finish of the boot is very nice and it appears to offer good protection for hill walking and trekking. It is a narrow boot, however, so it may not work for everyone.
The sole even has a metal shank which is amazing considering it still has some flexibility but it is very stable. These boots are unlikely to be as durable as a heavy leather trekking boot but they're holding up surprisingly well after about 100 miles of hill walking so we'll wait to see. Very impressed so far!

Replaced my very trusted but worn out 12-year-old Salomon boots with this and super happy about it! I looked around a long time and at several brands before choosing:
Only tried them once on the mountain so far but they are indeed super light & supportive at the same time. They look and feel sturdy, heel & toes are fully protected, ankle supported, overall felt very comfortable on the trail (I don't do super technical terrain but grip was secure on dirt/mud/rock/snow) . Definitely recommend it, just not for very hot conditions perhaps.
Finding the correct size to fit me though was tricky, as my feet and calves run on the wider side. I am size 38(UK 5) in most shoes, including my previous hiking boots. Tried 38 2/3 (UK 5.5) in another model but was tight on the foot around the toes area. After long research on comments about sizing, I followed the mondopoint system (as many people & Mammut suggest) and got a 39 1/3 (UK 6) - same as my ski boots. They fit like a dream!

Hi Amanda,
Yes, there is nothing wrong with using the shoes for that, it is a very relevant model.
Best regards,
