its very nice comfortable material warm, but not so warm you cant wear it during warmer weather. its like any sweatpants just wool i have on occasion worn them as long johns however, i would not recommend that it as it made 4 holes throughout the material in about 4 wears whit jeans (4 months into owning them). i sewed up those holes and haven't had any other damage in the 6 months since and i wear them daily indoors and outdoors. you can use them as long johns in an emergency but be careful since it will wear trough the material fast. i wear these to run, cycle, walk around/hike , i wear them well into freezing temperatures and if some rain happens they will get wet fast but will stay much warmer than any other sweatpants. so well worth it in my opinion. only thing i don't like is the pockets, they are cut really badly so if you ever sit down WATCH YOUR WALLET OR YOUR PHONE they will fall out as soon as you sit down they are basically useless. i don't use the pockets except for a handkerchief (since i don't mind losing them) unless i have no other choice and if i sit down somewhere i have to take my wallet and phone out and set them on the table.
