Product description
Your entry into the world of climbing
The Defy from Evolv are not just climbing shoes - they are your ticket to the exciting world of climbing. With their unique combination of an advanced design and a user-friendly fit, these are the ideal shoes for all beginners and recreational climbers who appreciate precision.
Precision and comfort in every step
Thanks to their light pre-tensioning and their increased asymmetry compared to conventional entry-level shoes, the Defy offer a more precise connection between you and the rock face. Whether you're climbing in halls or outdoors, these shoes give you the confidence to take on any challenge.
Practical design for simple adventures
The Defy feature a practical split tongue opening that makes it easier to put them on and take them off again. Meanwhile, the single strap fastening is not only secure, but also offers a comfortable fit with a high level of sensitivity - perfect for a fine touch when climbing. In addition, the soft heel construction ensures greater comfort so that you can concentrate fully on your next move.
The advantages at a glance:
- Pre-tensioned entry-level strap-fastened climbing shoes
- Slightly asymmetrical cut promotes a more precise connection to footholds
- The split tongue opening and single strap fastening make them quick to put on and take off
- Perforated upper offers greater breathability
Note: to help you determine your size, Evolv has divided the fit into three groups based on your needs.
+0 Professionals: Order your normal street shoe size. +1 Advanced: Order one size larger than your normal street shoe size. +2 Beginners: Order two sizes larger than your normal street shoe size.

I’m a total novice and these are my first climbing shoes. I bought the same as my standard shoe size, based on the advice on this site. My toes are tightly scrunched up in these shoes, and after less than a minute of climbing I was in such pain I threw them off the rock face and continued climbing barefoot. I have since been trying to stretch them using a hairdryer and brute force, but I doubt they’ll ever be comfortable. If, like me, you’re looking for a comfortable and affordable beginner’s shoe, I would go two full sizes up from your normal street shoe size.

Not comfortable
Picked 0.5 EU size over what the size guide said, but that was still way too small. Returned and ordered 0.5 EU over my street size, return fee for me was 10 euro.
