Product description
The Otto Curved figure eight descender from Climbing Technology can be used with all types of ropes, be it single rope, half or twin rope or static ropes for caving.
Its square shape helps to keep rope twisting to a minimum. Because it is hot-forged, the Otto Curved is extremely light, weighing in at 79 grams, but maintains a high level of strength. Depending on how you thread the rope through the device, you can choose between two descent speeds - the curved profile makes this possible. That way, you can decide how you'd like to rappel based on your weight and the steepness of the wall.
When compared to other rappel devices, the classic figure-eight belay device has the advantage that it works just fine with two ropes of different thicknesses when rappelling double strand. Plus, it is almost indestructible and easy to use when wearing gloves.
