The Camalot C4s from Black Diamond were created around the turn of the millennium. They have been constantly developed since then and have become the best-selling active camming devices on the market. Last revised in 2021, the Camalot C4s are now 10% lighter, yet just as hard-wearing as before!
Light and reliable - the standard for trad climbing
Compared to its previous models, the design has been improved: the aluminium clamping segments are milled out more to weigh less; their geometry offers an optimised strength-to-weight ratio (see table below); plus, the sizes #4, #5, and #6 have a slightly widened pull lever, which allows the large Camalots to be folded up and hung on your belt, saving space and making them immediately ready for use when placed.
Colour coding offers quick identification on your climbing harness
The double-axis design ensures the greatest possible clearance for the clamping segments. The cam features a C-loop centre ridge with continuous cable for improved strength and durability. The polyamide loops have also been redesigned for better distinguishability and the colour coding helps with quicker identification on your climbing harness.
