18.05.2025I never knew I could love a belay device so much
A year ago, when a climbing buddy let me try it, I had no idea how attached I'd become. Now, I own two, because I accidentally left one behind while visiting a friend and couldn't wait til I saw her next, so I bought a second one.
Smoother than an ATC, with assisted braking. Worth the weight, and also the cost.

A very, very good device for single pitch sport climbing. Easy feed, works like the universal/familiar gri-gri but better, unlocks super-easy if you do manage to lock up the cam - which is fairly unlikely as it feeds so smoothly. Much better for a lead beginner than the grigri as it works much like a basic tube but adds the safety of assisted locking.
However, it's rather heavier, so not really useful for multipitch, arguably not quite as safe as a standard grigri and definitely not as versatile - wouldn't use for positioning or bell-ringing style belay, not great for rapelling or even toproping by comparison with grigri.
