It's non-restrictive and the synthetic fibre material provides good insulation. Even when wet, this jacket is still warm. It has a DWR finish that's both water-repellent and windproof, making it the ideal partner, especially for alpine touring, ski tours and mountaineering. It can be bundled together into a small package and won't really add much when put in a backpack. When resting on the summit and during other breaks, it can be put on fast and easily as outermost layer. It also keeps the warmth ideally close to the body.

After reading about the jacket, I decided to purchase one in Utility Blue. I found it at 50% off, so I got a good deal. Sizing, as with everything from Patagonia, is odd. I had to size down and take XL even though I am 195 cm and 110 kg. I don't see how this jacket could be used for some serious mountaineering activities; the durability and the quality are just not there. After 10 days of only streetwear, some threads on my sleeves started to come loose and break. This is a light and rather warm jacket that can sustain some light rain and wind, and that's it. Not intended for some serious mountain time. For me, this will be my transitional-period city jacket.
