Product description
The Crag Daddy Backpack is one of Patagonia's biggest climbing-specific packs for a whole lot of gear. With careful packing you can get climbing ropes, double racks, draws, food, layers, and more into the 45-liter Crag Daddy. A full-length center zipper opens the Crag Daddy's main compartment wide, so you can find your belay device underneath all the cams. For comfort, Patagonia added cushy and breathable Air Flow mesh at the back panel, waist belt, and shoulder straps. There's also a lightweight aluminum frame sheet to give support for heavy loads, and you can remove it for quick trips to the local crags. Large reinforced grab handles let you drag the Crag Daddy under routes quickly and easily, and the side compression straps accommodate extra climbing ropes. The Crag Daddy also features two stretch side pockets for water bottles, a zippered side pocket for climbing guides, and an internal stash pocket for your electronics and valuables.

I have been using this bag for around 4 months now and I am really impressed. The duffel style opening system makes it really easy to dump your gear in and zip it up, saves all that digging around of a top loading pack. I can easily fit a full trad rack, 60 m rope and a few layers and shoes in the bag, If i want to fit a little more in then I can just put the rope through the rope carry straps and fit a load more stuff in the main compartment. The side pockets are huge and can easily fit a large flask or my climbing shoes (both in one pocket). The only negative for me is that the outer small zip pocket and the internal zip pocket are a little small meaning I can't fit some of my guidebooks in there and my medium sized first aid kit takes a bit of jiggling to get in. Other than that that I can't fault this bag, I have hauled it up some big multi-pitches and dragged it through slate quarries (with some very sharp edges) and it has took the punishment; no tears or holes. Finally being patagonia, it uses lots of recycled materials and they have a great ethic to their supply chain so thats a great added bonus.
