The perfect all-round set: The Smarter Belay Package from Mammut contains everything you need for belaying and is even perfect for beginners thanks to the Smarter. Not only is it equipped with a Smart 2.0 belay device and a matching Smart HMS carabiner but also features the Smarter, which can be (optionally) attached to the safety device.
Let’s take a closer look at all the components: the Smart 2.0 is an intuitively operated belay device, that will reliably lock the climbing rope. Plus, the 2.0 version features a significantly improved braking system and an optimized geometry. In addition, the belay device functions according to the tube principle and is suitable for lead climbing, top rope climbing and abseiling. And, not only is it super lightweight and compact but it will also fit perfectly in your hands and doesn’t feature any moving parts.
This, along with the Smart HMS carabiner guarantee an amazing securing system. The carabiner features an easy-to-use screw-lock and an additional safety gate which can only be operated when opened. Plus, the safety gate prevents the carabiner from twisting and dangerous cross-loading.
Lastly, the set is completed by the Smarter, which provides extra safety for beginners. By attaching it to the Smart 2.0, increased safety is ensured even in the event of misuse by the belayer. Plus, since beginners may not always hold the brake rope correctly whilst securing, for example when the brake rope is held above the belay device, the Smarter will intervene in the event of a fall by immediately locking the rope. And, it will not impair normal rope handling even when secured correctly.
