Hi Matt,

Unfortunately, the Scarpa Mecalito TRK GTX are not a crampon compatible boot. They are too flexible to be able to support a crampon.

Do these crampons have a flex bar?

I’d be buying these for a scarpa ribelle lite boot and they’re advised to only be used with a flex bar C2 crampon. Thanks.

Yes, these do have a flexbar fited as standard. The New-Matic EVO model will be the best choice for your boots.

Hi Jodie , Yes and I would assume only with the New Classic or strap on binding in your case.

I would buy this for beginners

Its fine for a semi rigid boot and for winter trekking without too many steep climbs. A bit heavier than used.
