I was wondering if you could tell me if these shoes are made with a shank in them? I have had Clarks Desert Boots before but found the combination of flexible sole, raised heel and no shank to be very uncomfortable

I've been wearing these every odd day throughout the cold season. They show very little wear and look sturdy in general. There's enough room for wool socks, and they're fairly waterproof. They look really nice on top of that. There are two main issues, though - although they are reliable on snow our rough ice, the shoes become extremely slippery on plain ice (the sole is mostly flat, which seems to be the root of the issue). Moreover, they produce a weird squeaking (quacking?) sound on flat concrete or pavement. In summary, they are pretty nice, weatherproof shoes, but have their quirks.
