good quality with weird design

I trust Columbia to be watertight, but the hood design on the children coat is terrible. No cords to cinch to the head shape, hood is too short, does not cover the face enough. Also the zipper... the pulley is located on the opposite side not how it is usually does on boys coats. Goes a half size large. Patagonia (2x price) has a real 3L material and a GOOD hood design - although without drawstrings but with big enough cut and some elastic parts so it is really well fits and covers the whole face.
