Just one thing about this device is that as soon as you clip it on, it turns on (unlike other beacons in which there's an on button). While this is a valid safety feature, it means that if you're wearing it because you geared up at home and you're driving to the approach, or the approach involves some hiking, it'll be on. This might use up some battery, though the battery life is long enough that this is no issue on day trips or even a week of day tours.
