Cross Hike ....... Not really a hiking boot at all.
I have had a pair three months now.
Used on a variety of terrain and altitudes.
Very poor to non existent ankle support. There is some padding either side if the ankle but it is not well fitted around the ankle area. Poor lacing system does not allow a snug fit around the ankle. There is a big gap between the ankle area and the boot which you cannot close up. This allows all types of trail debris (pebbles, pine needles, water, snow, twigs, dust and whatever else can pop up and in from the trail). And for some reason, Salomon still goes with a huge boot tongue which just sticks out over the laces. Not sure what it is mean for.
These boots have fantastic traction and are comfortable and light. A big bonus....... But not really good for mountains.
Also sizing is not the same as other Salomon shoes.
Waterproofness also questioned .....but I will hold off criticism just yet on that.
Stick with the Speedcross. You know what you are getting
