The kestrel carabiner weights 25g.
A normal wiregate in similar price range weighs 43g.
That's 18 grams saved, which doesn't sound like much. However when you bring 16 slings on a multipitch, you'll need 16*2 = 32 carabiners. 18g * 32 is 576g or 0.57 kg. The math speaks for itself.
