nice bit of a kit

perfect for belaying where climber is much heavier than belayer, yet its functionality will depend on rope friction

Excellent belay device

I use the Mammut Smart belay device for indoor wall, sport and trad climbing. It performs really well in all functions and the assisted braking works superbly. I like it so much I have bought a Smart Alpine for using with twin ropes on long multi-pitch routes. As yet I haven't used this, but I am shortly going to Kalymnos where it will get a proper trial. If it works as well as the single rope version I will be delighted.
