Tight waistband. For skinny kids!

Borderline uncomfortable tightness of waistband. Was hoping to exchange the rubber in waistband to a looser fitting one myself, but it is completely sown into all seams, no way to loosen. Size 92 relaxed waistband is 18cm across. We’re 83cm tall, pant leg fits us perfectly, but our waist is 50cm. Really did not want to return as we’re fans of Engel’s wool/silk range.
