If not can you advise any alternative light weight small ice axe for walking to be carried for emergency use

Hi Harry, This attachment is only designed for use with Black Diamond Whippet Ready Poles and your trekking poles are,unfortunately,not. Regarding an ice axe for emergency use, I would highly recommend that you contact the BMC for the best advice with that matter but as a great walking axe perhaps have a look at the Grivel Nepal SA.
