They're super strong, cheap, open smoothly (but awkwardly because the metal is super smooth and weirdly angled) and the smaller side/base is wide enough for 16mm slings.
However, they aren't snapgates for someone looking to lighten their rack. I bought these when they were super cheap to create my own first set of alpine/trad draws. They're also not the most ergonomically shaped so taped them up to make them easier to use.
