Summary of the ski packing list

Warm clothing

You’re off into a winter wonderland and into the cold, so sufficient warm and functional clothing from head to toe should be on your skiing essentials list. The tried-and-tested onion principle is always a good idea. Functional clothing protects you from falling snow and on particularly cold days. So you can enjoy cosy evenings in the hut, your clothing should be comfortable. Of course, don’t forget some elegant outfits if you’re planning a snazzy gala evening at a restaurant.

Maintain your ski gear

After a long break being stowed away, your ski or snowboard gear probably needs a little looking after. Take your skis or snowboard to the ski service, ideally before your skiing holiday or at the resort, for waxing and edge grinding. This will guarantee you the perfect experience on the slopes right from the start. You should also try on your boots and check all strap buckles and lacing systems.

Material selection

Merino wool is a good idea for your ski trip checklist. In addition to breathable and temperature-regulating properties, it’s also antibacterial and odour-inhibiting, meaning you can wear your base layers for several days without having to wash them. This will cut down on what to take skiing. Just air them a bit and they’re ready again to support you on the slopes.

Alternative programme

If you’re travelling with children or the weather forecast doesn’t look great, you should also take great games, books and entertainment electronics.

Swimming gear should also be part of your skiing essentials list because many hotels or public swimming pools offer enjoyable bathing experiences and wellness opportunities. As an alternative outdoor programme, there’s also sledding, ice-skating or snowshoeing.

Pack sun protection

Heading into the sun – mountain sun is much more intense than on flat land. That’s why you should apply sun protection with Factor 50+ or at least 30+ even on cloudy days. The altitude mustn’t be underestimated either. Consuming plenty of liquid and glucose will help against feeling dizzy and circulatory problems. On particularly cold days, heat pads for the hands and feet are a great accessory.

You’re ready to go – with this packing list for a ski trip, practically nothing can go wrong. Of course, you can add your personal and required items and favourites to this ski holiday checklist.

Bergfreundin Judith

I consider it an incredible privilege to have been born and raised in the beautiful Tyrolean mountains. I was born with a passion for the mountains and skied for the first time at the age of 1.5. At the age of 9, I switched from two to one board. Snowboarding has been with me for 27 years now and splitboarding for several seasons. Enjoying nature and freedom off the slopes still overwhelms me on every tour.
