"For me, it doesn’t have to be mountains at all. What counts the most are nice little holds on a slightly-overhanging rock."

Alpinetrek-ExpertSince:
April 2011 (until May 2015. Since then occasional author for Alpinetrek)
Favourite mountain activity:
For me, it doesn't have to be mountains at all. What counts the most are nice little holds on a slightly-overhanging rock.
Favourite peak:
I don’t have any. But my favourite climbing and bouldering areas are: Fontainebleau in France and Leonidio in Greece.
Favourite mountain hut food:
Kaiserschmarrn (an Austrian dessert)!!! with an elderberry spritzer after a strenuous mountaineering tour. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Favourite product:
Women's AR 385a Climbing Harness Arc'teryx
Winter or summer:
Summer
A sunny day (not too hot, not too cold), at a nice climbing rock that’s not too crowded, yet not too empty, with awesome friends and my dog. There’s nothing better than that (except maybe Kaiserschmarrn).

You went to quickly buy a climbing harness before the climbing course and wonder why the leg loops look so funny? Or whilst unpacking asked yourself why the strap is not padded or has such a ridiculous strap on the rear? Buying a climbing harness is actually quite simple, but if you do not take […]

It used to be so easy. There was the figure eight and the Munter hitch and that was the only choice for the belayer. With time however, manufacturers, climbing associations and climbers have learned something new and more secure belay devices have been developed. They have not only become more secure, but the number of […]
