I have been using the Bensjon pants for a month, largely as underwear in cold weather during hill walking and hiking, and I have a mixed review to share:
PROS:
The pants are very very comfortable, the wool does not scratch at all and retains the warmth. Even at a windchill of -15°C I did not feel cold wearing this baselayer underneath summer outdoor trousers. The wool did soak up moisture easily when my trousers got wet, yet it did not feel clammy or uncomfortable. So, from the comfort perspective, 5 stars.
NEGATIVES:
What outweighs the positives by far, however, is the very poor construction and durability of the pants. As I said above, I have been using the pants for about 4-5 weeks, and after three hikes the tencel material in the crotch started to disintegrate forming a large hole. After a few more walks the wool developed holes as well (see the uploaded photos for more details). So, effectively, the pants lasted me a couple of weeks maximum (at normal use) before they could be trashed. I think the concept of the pants is good, with breathable material patches in the crotch and knee areas, but in practice the pants do not hold up against normal use.
I would like to say a big thank you to the customer service team who dealt with this matter very quickly and efficiently.
