Product description

Versatile 1 man backpacking tent

The Alto TR1 Plus 1 man tent from Sea to Summit is a lightweight and durable trekking tent for use between spring and autumn. Not only does it provide a comfortable amount of space, but it’s also weatherproof thanks to its materials and it has multiple set-up possibilities. The tent’s Tension Ridge Architecture and compact pack size makes it the perfect choice for trekking, cycling and backpacking.

Weatherproof and stable thanks to the aluminium frame and Sil-PeU coating

The Alto TR1 Plus from Sea to Summit has a hydrostatic head of 1200 mm and is equipped with a flysheet made of 15D ripstop nylon, laminated seams and a silicone and polyether polyurethane (Sil-PeU) coating, which all ensure it can resists heavy rainfalls and strong winds. As for the tent floor, it’s made of a 20D ripstop nylon and has a hydrostatic head of 2500 mm.

In addition, Sea to Summit equipped the tent with high-quality DAC poles made of anodised aluminium. Both the Featherlite NFL and Pressfit poles are guaranteed to remain stable and durable in windy conditions. Plus, the Alto TR1 Plus features a nylon inner tent, which offers extra protection and insulation compared to the Alto TR1. The “Plus” also provides greater leeway, especially in cooler temperatures and changeable weather conditions.

Enough space thanks to the TR Architecture and vestibule

The Alto TR1 Plus offers 1.8 m² of floor space, and is equipped with both a vestibule and a large entrance. Plus, thanks to both its comfortable Tension Ridge Architecture and steep sidewalls, the Sea to Summit tent offers an amazing amount of space for its size.

Another great feature is that the 1228g tent can be transported very compactly. The freestanding Alto TR1 Plus even offers different set-up configurations, such as the Dry Step-Up, Partial Fly, Fly Only and Inner Only. And, the easy-to-use Quick Connect Tent Feet allows you to adjust and attach the flysheet with just one hand.

The highlights at a glance:

  • An extra lightweight and weatherproof tent with a reinforced floor
  • Optimal use of space and features a vestibule and a large entrance
  • Sil-PeU coating and DAC aluminium frame
  • 5 different set-up modes for maximum flexibility

A good choice for bikepacking and light hiking.

This very light tent that takes up little space in your luggage must be used for what it was intended for, otherwise it will disappoint you.
I've used it for several stops in the mountains, in an alpine environment, where it doesn't belong, being very wind resistant. In addition, it has very little storage space.
It is a good solution but for trekking in easier conditions, not in high mountains, it is also a good option for bikepacking.
In no way is it a solution for camping.
Up to a point it is waterproof, in conditions of light rain, but without wind.

  • Advantages
    Plenty of head clearance
    Lightweight
  • Disadvantages
    Not stormproof
    Not much space
