Product description
A great addition for ski mountaineers and freeriders - the RAD Line 6 mm from Petzl. This cord is ultra-light and compact, making it easy to carry in any pack. It is perfectly suited for rappelling, crevasse rescue and roping up on a glacier. The material used for the rope (a blend of polyester, Dyneema and aramid) is hyperstatic, with a static elongation of less than 2%. This makes rescues much easier and more efficient because you dont lose any strength as a result of stretch. The sheath is particularly rough for better handling. Light, compact and clever - the RAD Line.

Important: The RAD Line is not intended for belaying whilst climbing and may not be incorporated into your belay system. Thus, it is not suitable for high-altitude mountaineering. The minimal static elongation would lead to serious injuries or worse if use in this way.

New generation of glacier rope

I recently carried the RAD for a 4 night hut to hut trip in the Silvretta Alps.

Once you get over how thin and light the RAD is, then you can really appreciate how light and compact it is in your pack.

Typical for a ski touring trip, we never actually had to use the RAD line. But, I was confident that if we needed to it would perform well.

There were 4 in our group, so we also carried a more standard 8mm glacier rope. We took this out of the pack for a short abseil, but I think the RAD would also have done fine. Having 1 normal 8mm glacier rope and 1 RAD line in a party would be a good strategy.
