Product description

You can count on it in bad weather: the Women's Torrentshell Jacket by Patagonia is a hardshell jacket, specially designed for demanding tours in awful weather! The jacket comes with a H2NO Performance Shell for complete weather protection. This gives the Torrentshell a water column of 20,000. So it's fully waterproof. The membrane is also super breathable and the fabric is very robust and keeps everything out. The adjustable hood can be stored in the collar when not needed. The chin and neck area are lined on the inside with warm and cozy fleece material. The zip pockets are big enough for all the important bits and pieces and accessible even when wearing a climbing harness or backpack. Oh yes! The Torrentshell is also bluesign certified. Production is completed using the most sustainable, environmentally friendly methods. You're ready for the next storm with the Women's Torrentshell Jacket!

Excellent lightweight and very waterproof

This is a classic hardshell. No, it's not super breathable, but it does have pit-zips which help, but really it's not designed to be breathable.. it's designed to be lightweight and to keep the worst of the weather out, which is does very well. All the little aspects which I have found annoying on other jackets are solved in this one, like; the hood, the draw cords, the cuffs etc are all well designed.
Highly recommend.

Definitely a No for H2No!

I bought this jacket 8 months ago moving away from my trusted Berghaus of 7 years use, as it was lightweight so perfect for travelling and the coming rainy seasons in the tropics where I lived, while being wind and waterproof for when I move back to colder climes. However after several uses it just began absorbing the water rather than it beading and rolling off as it once had. The saturated jacket then feels sticky, damp and claustrophobic, it is definitely not breathable. I was unsure about it not being Gore-Tex and unfortunately I was right. Now as it doesn't shed water it has begun to grow black mould along the bottoms where the saturated water collects. Which shows up splendidly on the red colouring. Don't buy this jacket!

Unfortunately this is my experience too after owning for a couple of months, even after reproofing with Nikwax Techwash it lasted 1 mile of walking before holding the rain and creating a soggy uncomfortable “skin”.
