Soft, warm and functional: The Merino jumper

Merino Jumpers

Merino wool jumpers are the real all-rounders of outdoor sweaters. Although they are made of natural fibers, they have many properties that otherwise only textiles made from synthetic fibers have. And they offer a lot more!

Where does the raw material from the Merino wool sweater come from?

Merino sheep provide the wool for Merino sweaters. These sheep live in a hostile climate in the Southern Alps. The summers in the Southern Alps are hot, whilst the winters are ice cold. Therefore nature provided them with a sort of natural outdoor clothing: their wool. These special fibers give the Merino sweater its outstanding features.

Features of a Merino jumper

Merino jumpers not only keep the body warm, they are also naturally breathable. Moreover Merino jumpers assume no odors, which is a big advantage especially for multi-day trips. Even if the Merino jumper gets wet, it is not a problem! On the one hand the Merino wool compensates for the thermal output in the wet state, whilst on the other hand it dries very quickly. Merino wool sweaters also offer a wonderfully soft and pleasant-to-wear sensation. Unlike normal wool Merino fiber does not itch on the skin. Last but not least Merino sweaters have a natural UV protection due to their "miracle fiber", which is a very important factor for functional clothing.
