Lightweight Flextron Future of Climbing

In Scottish, wet gnarly weather - this sock knit GTX boot is a must.

I went 1/2 a size up to my normal street shoes. The fit was perfect as a result, there is a wide toe boot area and the right amount of space. I like my laces securely tight, the boot on a first walk was so comfortable. The catches for the laces are well made, metal. I went up slippery wet extremely steep grass just using the toe pads of the shoes. I gripped without an issue, going down was also a breeze. The shoes are extremely dry inside, I did use WoolEater socks (light thinner) and the fit was just so so good.

These boots are for mountaineering and hiking, according to Mammut's own website. I would highly recommend them, for anyone in need of a robust shoe with Flex. I have flat feet, so some flex is necessary, yet these boots have enough stiffness for wintery icy conditions when climbing. The plan is to use them at least 3 seasons, potentially a trial on winter. This is not a Mont Blanc climbing boot. However, it is a definite great asset for hikes and climbs on the British ranges.

It did not feel hot at all on a day when it was 16C and muggy. If I compare them to Salewa Raven 3GTX, I found those far harder and insanely painful to use. The Raven were extremely heavy, extremely warm to wear except below 10C, extremely stiff for Ice Mountain days. I also managed to get rub in the Raven on first use.

So if you want a feet friendly Boot, a Lightweight most season Mountaineering Boot, with added Waterproof GTX then try this one. It was as if I was being kind to my feet! I have tried a number of boots, these rank amongst my topmost favoured.
