Product description

A static rope like the Mammut 10.0 Performance Static rope is a special kind of rope made for a particular purpose.

Canyoning is much harder on a rope than rock or ice climbing. It often floats or hangs around in water for hours on end and has to be highly resistant to abrasion resulting from constant exposure to sandy and wet surfaces or hauling heavy loads over sharp rock edges. Fixed ropes used for expeditions are also subjected to a lot of wear and tear, since they tend to be exposed to extreme temperatures and very strong UV radiation. Plus, they have to be able to withstand the sharp-toothed ascenders on big walls as well. A dynamic rope wouldn't survive a beating like that! The most important characteristic of a static rope is the fact that it hardly stretches at all when placed under a load, even when wet. Because a static rope is not designed to stretch when under a load, it should never be used as a climbing rope. It won't absorb any forces in the event of a fall. As of result of their unique characteristics, static ropes are often used for climbing buildings and trees as well as by mountain rescue teams.
With a diameter of 10 mm, the Mammut Performance Static rope will meet the highest standards: It is highly abrasion resistant, will hardly stretch at all when bearing a load and has a high breaking strength of 27 kN. The rope is available in 50, 100, 200 and 400 m lengths. Like all Mammut ropes, this, too, is bluesign certified and thus environmentally friendly.
