In 2002, the year it was established, the British company Lightwave decided to manufacture all its products based on the motto: from mountaineers, by mountaineers in order to achieve the best performance possible - no compromise when it comes to weight or durability. Thus, aside from robust backpacks and sleeping bags, the 2-person tent S20 Sigma which can be used in all times of the year was created.
Many features of its design could already be seen looking at its predecessors: the S20 has a hybrid outer tent, just as the S10. That means, Lightwave approached the issue of condensation on the inside of the tent with an entirely new idea. A carbon coating called X-tex absorbs the moisture. Due to the large surface on the inside of the tent it feels less greasy, downright dry, even under humid climate conditions - theres no way that condensed breathing air drips into your face in the morning.
Aside from this innovative main idea, the tent stands out due to other features and abilities: an easy setup with the DAC Featherlite pole system and a groundsheet with a 5,000 mm water column make the picture perfect. Additionally, the floor is raised on the edges (the so-called bath tub design) and provides an improved protection from wetness and splashes from underneath. Considering that, a long sleeping area for even more comfort is an almost not worth the mention. Thus, the S20 Sigma definitely stands out as a versatile tent for all times of the year - whether youre ascending a mountain or on a trekking tour in wind and weather.
