Product description

Made from all-natural fibres - the Fält Guide Glove 5 Finger by Hestra! This glove is made entirely from premium goat - or cow leather and is therefore particularly durable and tough. The leather on the back of the hand is treated, so that it is water-repellent and windproof. Weather protection is therefore assured. On the palms is a special army quality leather, which is highly durable, so that these gloves withstand even the harshest conditions on tour. Another advantage of leather is its breathability, which maintains a comfortable internal climate inside the gloves. With its non-slip exterior, poles and ice picks are gripped perfectly in your hand.Inside you will find a pleasantly soft cloth of pure wool. This wicks moisture away from the skin and insulates the body heat, so that even during winter sports you don't have to worry about having warm fingers, These all natural materials are also kind to your skin and the environment. These gloves have been designed with the seams on the outside, so that they offer an exceptionally high-level of wearer comfort with minimal chafing. There are even clever carabiner and attachment options on the gloves themselves, so that they can be kept in an easily accessible place, on a climbing harness or backpack. For passionate ski tourers, trekkers and winter sport players, who have high expectations of their gloves, the Hestra Fält Guide Glove 5 Finger is the perfect fit!

Legendary gloves

Easily one of the best things I have ever bought in my life. The passion that has gone into this product from the company is outstanding and it shows. These aren’t just a pair of gloves they are something you will treasure for life. Make sure you use the measurement from your preferred hand eg if right handed it makes a big difference with fitting correctly. Must buy !
Also be aware the included conditioner sample does make the leather darker in colour

Heaven when your hands are frozen on a mountain

As I've gotten older I tend to feel the cold in my hands. In a cold wind I can lose all feeling and dexterity in a few minutes, which can be problematic on a mountain in bad weather.
I've tried layering gloves to counter this, but only the Hestra Falt can restore warmth and feeling to my hands in just a few minutes, they are incredible.
And they're bombproof! Originally I measured my hands incorrectly and bought 2 sizes too small. I hoped they might stretch a little as they broke in, so wore them whilst I plunged my hands in boiling water; held them in steam over a boiling pan; picked up the pan straight from the hob and held it by it's copper bottom. Apart from a few drops of hot water (not enough to cause a problem) seeping through the stitches after a minute of full submersion, these totally protected my hands and still looked brand new afterwards. I've only used them in the worst weather conditions: -14°c, driving rain, winds in excess of 50mph, and these have fully protected my hands and looked brand new afterwards.
When I eventually realised I'd bought 2 sizes too small I decided to try other gloves as potential replacements, but none were as good as the Falt, so I ordered another pair. But then I knew that I would, and that's about the best recommendation I can give.

Too chunky for road cycling?

I love the look and attributes of these but imagine they’re too chunky to use on a road bike in the winter?

Has anyone actually tried cycling a bike with Campagnolo gear shifters with these on? Campagnolo down shifters will be easy I’m sure as just the thumb is used ( unlike Shimano etc)and there’s plenty of room for that but the narrower upshifters might pose a problem with the lower dexterity of chunky fingers. I imagine braking would be ok ( fingers crossed or not

Hi Simon,
These are really a hard wearing work glove and the make up of the glove especially at the fingers is much too chunky for cycling. They are also not waterproof!
For road cycling you're better off sticking with a cycling specific glove or mitt.
