This is the only way to ensure that the dry treatment<\/strong> always performs reliably and can optimally protect the ambitious hiker, mountaineer or outdoor enthusiast from adverse weather conditions. How to correctly care for GORE-TEX\u00ae clothing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to avoid unnecessary strain or even damage to the fabric in the washing machine, it is important to close all the zips<\/strong>. This applies to the front zip as well as to all the zipped pockets and zipped vents. You can then put your garments into the washing machine without hesitation. The optimum result is achieved at a temperature of 40\u00b0 C<\/strong> with a little liquid detergent<\/strong>. However, above all, the manufacturer’s care instructions <\/strong>should always be followed before washing. After washing, rinse sufficiently to remove all detergent residue. Powder detergents<\/strong>, fabric softener<\/strong>s, stain remover<\/strong>s and bleach<\/strong> should never be used as these can clog <\/strong>and damage the membrane<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order not to wrinkle the clothes too much, it is best to keep the spin cycle <\/strong>as low <\/strong>as possible. Ideally, you should also avoid washing heavily soiled clothes together. If dry cleaning<\/strong> is required, it is important that this is carried out with a distilled hydrocarbon solution<\/strong>. In addition, before drying<\/strong> the garment, a water-repellent dry treatment<\/strong> should be sprayed on.<\/p>\n\n\n

Drying and ironing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

GORE-TEX\u00ae is best air-dried<\/strong>. As this is not always easy, particularly in cities where you have a lack of space, you can also use <\/strong>a tumble dryer<\/strong>. The clothes should be dried at a warm temperature. Once dry, put them into the dryer again at a low temperature for about 20 minutes on a gentle cycle. This reactivates the water-repellent dry treatment of the fabric<\/strong> and allows it to regain its full protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By using the tumble dryer, additional ironing is generally no longer necessary. However, if you haven\u2019t used a tumble dryer, ironing<\/strong> at a low temperature and without steam<\/strong> is recommended. To protect the fabric sufficiently, place a cloth between the clothing and the iron<\/strong>. The heat generated by ironing is also able to reactivate the permanent dry treatment (DWR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The water-repellent dry treatment of the clothing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If the water-repellent dry treatment<\/a> of the individual garment can no longer be reactivated, it is possible to add additional dry treatment. This is usually available from shops and retailers offering GORE-TEX\u00ae garments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before washing, follow the manufacturer\u2019s care instructions<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Generally, GORE-TEX\u00ae gloves can be washed by hand<\/strong> in warm water. For more detailed information, you should also consult the manufacturer\u2019s care instructions<\/strong>. If there is leather on the upper material, make sure to keep these areas free of soap. After washing, press out the water from the fingertips to the wrists of the gloves. Do not wring as this may damage the material!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To dry the gloves, place them or hang them with the fingertips<\/strong> pointing upwards<\/strong>. The gloves can also be tumble-dried<\/strong> at a low temperature and steam-ironed warm<\/strong>. As with clothing, it is advisable to place a cloth between the outer fabric and the iron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The correct care and cleaning ensures a long life for GORE-TEX\u00ae products<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Clothing<\/strong>, shoes<\/strong>, gloves<\/strong>: proper, regular care of individual GORE-TEX\u00ae products extends the life of the dry treatment<\/strong> and, if necessary, reactivates it<\/strong>. This, in turn, results in more fun on your adventures, offering adequate protection against the wet and cold on a wide range of tours. Just make sure that after the tour, you invest a few more minutes in cleaning your clothing so that it is ready for the next trip!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
