Walking boots and casual shoes with GORE-TEX\u00ae Surround<\/strong>\u00ae<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In order to improve the breathability of shoes worn during physically demanding activities and in moderate to high temperatures, GORE developed the GORE-TEX\u00ae SURROUND\u00ae product technology. GORE-TEX\u00ae SURROUND\u00ae<\/a> is as waterproof as the other GORE-TEX\u00ae shoes. The difference lies in the innovative construction of the sole<\/strong>. The sole has special ventilation outlets on the side<\/strong> to allow for better water vapour permeability<\/strong>. These openings accelerate sweat removal even in high temperatures and during high-intensity activities – meaning that they provide an optimal microclimate and high level of comfort. GORE-TEX\u00ae SURROUND\u00ae is used in outdoor, sport and casual shoes. Open sole, side openings or side ventilation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

GORE-TEX\u00ae SURROUND\u00ae for casual footwear is available with an open sole. In the bottom of sole <\/strong>are openings that allow excess heat and moisture to escape. Despite these openings, a GORE-TEX\u00ae laminate surrounds the foot to prevent water penetrating from the outside. To protect the laminate and your feet from stones or sharp objects, a special protective layer made of extremely strong fleece is used.<\/p>\n

Casual shoes with GORE-TEX\u00ae SURROUND\u00ae are also available with side openings<\/strong>\u00a0(ventilation grids) in the sole. Heat and moisture are conducted both via the upper and downward through the laminate into the ventilation grid where they can escape through the side openings. The GORE-TEX\u00ae SURROUND\u00ae construction ensures that your feet stay cool, balanced and comfortable even in higher temperatures.<\/p>\n

GORE does not use ventilation openings in the side or bottom of the sole in walking boots. The side openings are positioned somewhat higher<\/strong>. The open construction of the shoes allows moisture and heat to escape from below through the laminate into a spacer. From there, moisture and heat are conducted out of the shoe through side ventilation outlets. This innovative construction makes it possible to offer walking and outdoor footwear that not only have tough, high-traction outsoles but also excellent ventilation, breathability and 100% waterproof protection.<\/p>\n
