Straightforward liquid replenishment on the go: Bike water bottles

Bike Water Bottles

No pain no gain! When you're giving it all on your bike, breaking into a sweat is inevitable! It is vital to rehydrate and for this we recommend a suitably-sized bike water bottle. On a road bike in particular, a backpack with a hydration system is far too restrictive. A bike water bottle is much more practical. The cage is mounted in a way so that the bottle can be easily reached from the saddle.

The right size and the material are crucial

Bike bottles usually have a capacity of between 500 milliliters and one liter. Light enough, but big enough if you are able to fill it up on the road now and then. A decent water bottle should be tough and easy to clean. Regularly cleaning the bottle in the dishwasher is the most hygienic option. Elite, Zefal and Alpina use taste-free, antibacterial materials for their bottles and mouthpieces, meaning you only taste the liquid contained within. A transparent material and a marker make it easier to regulate consumption.

Refilling and cleaning on long journeys

On long trips with a high fluid intake, it is better to take too much to drink with you than not enough. You will sometimes have the opportunity to refill your bottle at water fountains. As hydration systems are more awkward to clean, hydration bladders can be used as a water carrier in the backpack. You can then mix drinks in the bottle or add powders. You can clean the mouthpiece in the evening under running water and if the bottle has a large enough screw opening, cleaning the rest of the bottle is quick and easy as well.

Bottle and cage to suit your bike

The selection is endless, so it shouldn't be difficult to find a bottle to match the color of your bike and a cage suited to your frame. It is also worth investing a little bit of money when it comes to the cage. Good models fit different tube diameters and several bottle sizes. It is important that the bottle sits securely and does not rattle around.
